Port Gaverne Bay

Claims to fame

The area surrounding Port Gaverne and Port Issac has much to boast of, beautiful countryside, quaint little shops and not to mention the wonderful accommodation available! However, apart from being the ultimate getaway destination we also have quite a few claims to fame.

Fisherman's Friends

The Fisherman’s Friends are a group of singers from Port Isaac. They have delighted visitors and locals with their shanty songs for more than 15 years and they took off nationwide in early 2010. Since then they have signed with a top record label, played at they Royal Albert Hall and the BBC Folk Awards. They released their first album on 26th April 2010. We are very proud to have them!

ITV's Doc Martin

The well known and well loved ITV Drama Doc Martin is filmed in our neighbouring town Port Isaac. It stars Martin Clunes and is the story of a surgeon, who after developing a phobia of blood, is forced into a change of career. But while he may have retrained as a GP, he retains the aloof and tactless manner he displayed as a surgeon. When he's unleashed on the sleepy Cornish fishing village of Portwen (Port Issac), the inhabitants are in for a shock - they're more likely to receive cold-blooded diagnoses and personal insults than tea and sympathy.

Look out for the much awaited fourth series which is due to be on our screens in 2011.
